The Club at Keowee Key

The Club at Keowee Key serves as the “Hub” of the community, where residents meet to socialize, enjoy meals and participate in various clubs and planned events. The Club’s award-winning chef creates a tantalizing array of choices for lunch and dinner daily. Five dining venues are available, designed to satisfy personal taste and preference. Whatever you choose, from casual to formal dining, from a bistro to a sports bar, the warm and friendly staff will make you feel welcome.

The Club is the center for our arts community with working space for artists and gallery walls. Adjacent to the Club is the Event Center, providing larger conference space fully equipped with up to date audio visual capabilities for meetings and club catered events. There is even a member library, with thousands of books available.

Boating

With Lake Keowee’s 18,500 acres of water and 300 miles of shoreline, boating is a big part of life at Keowee Key. Almost all Keowee Key lakefront homes have their own private docks, and there are five community dock locations with 324 boat slips, all with electricity. Two docks have gas pumps allowing residents on-the-water fuel service.

In addition, the community offers storage lot spaces for trailers and boats, a seasonal boat maintenance program, boat launching, power-washing service, and rental programs for pontoon boats, canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. Keowee Key's Skipper Store, with basic marine supplies, maps and snacks, rounds out the offering.

Golf

Keowee Key’s George Cobb designed championship golf course is completely renovated by Richard Mandell, and re-opened in the Fall of 2019. This 6,426-yard, 18-hole, par 72 course is nearing certification in the Audubon Sanctuary Program, which promotes environmental stewardship.

With its demanding topography, the course is a distinct and fair challenge to any golfer, and five tee boxes are offered to match varying skill levels. The golf club features three full-time golf professionals, all expert teachers, a fully stocked pro shop, electric golf carts and locker rooms. Practice facilities include a driving range, large putting green, chipping and bunker practice area.

Fitness and Racquet Center

Everything you need to get or stay fit is at Keowee Key, with more than 40 fitness classes each week, updated facilities, aerobic and strength equipment, personal training, massage therapy, and an on-site physical therapy clinic.

Equipment includes 20 cardio machines, spin bikes, a stretch cage, a full circuit of Nautilus™ strength stations, Olympic free weights, benches, dumb bells and more. Facilities include a racquet ball court, indoor basketball, table tennis, a large aerobics room, a virtual training room, 25-meter indoor heated pool, snack bar and men's and women's locker rooms, each with showers, sauna and spa.

Tennis

If you love tennis, Keowee Key is the place for you. Due to our temperate climate, outdoor tennis is played year-round. With nearly 300 adults involved in Men’s, Ladies’ and mixed USTA league tennis, Keowee Key has produced 31 USTA League Team titles, 8 State titles, 3 Sectional titles and a National Championship. Social play is offered six days each week.

Facilities are generous: 14 courts – 8 clay, 4 synthetic grass and 2 cushioned hard courts, all lighted for night play – as well as 3 gazebos, bleachers and awnings for spectator seating. Two tennis professionals provide lessons and clinics, and train teams for USTA matches. A state-of-the-art ball machine and backboard are available. Keowee Key Tennis Association hosts tournaments exhibitions and social events throughout the year.

Pickleball

The nation’s fastest-growing sport of Pickleball is played with enthusiasm at Keowee Key. There are four state-of-the-art, lighted Pickleball courts and a generous pavilion with spectator seating. The Pickleball Club is a very active group of over 200 players.

The program supports all levels of play and there are periodic tournaments and invitationals with other communities. New Pickleball players are always welcome with regularly scheduled orientation sessions. Two Certified Pickleball Pros provide instruction, player development clinics and help to host numerous social events throughout the year.

Leisure Trail at Keowee Key at Sunset

Walking Trails

Many residents’ favorite amenity is our paved Walking Trails. The Leisure Trail on the North side of our community stretches 2.6 miles along the shores of Lake Keowee, providing gorgeous lake views at every turn. Banks of azaleas and wild dogwood line the trail, which is lighted from dusk until dawn.

With drinking fountains, restrooms, covered gazebos, and a large pavilion with charcoal grill, the Leisure Trail is a convenient place to take a stroll or have an outdoor gathering. A children's playground, and great sandy beach along the way add to the fun.

Our Southside Walking Trail runs 2.1 miles through beautiful pines and stretches the length of the community on the South side. This walk offers a bit more of a hilly grade and aerobic challenge.

Pools

Keowee Key offers residents and their guests a 25-meter heated, indoor pool that is a part of the Fitness and Racquet Center complex. In addition, there are two outdoor salt-water pools, open throughout the spring, summer and fall.

The North Marina pool, beautifully positioned overlooking Lake Keowee, is a big hit with residents featuring a wading and deep area, umbrellas, tables and chairs and changing rooms. There is a snack bar, and a large meeting room that overlooks the pool and lake. The Southside Community Pool with its large deck is a favorite for sunbathers and loungers with umbrellas, cabana chairs and changing rooms.

Parks/ Beaches

Keowee Key boasts several parks and beaches along the shores of Lake Keowee. Two parks are wooded peninsulas jutting out into the northwest branch of Lake Keowee. Part of the original forest, they are shady, breezy and quiet, offering residents park benches, picnic tables, restrooms, small marinas and storage racks for their canoes and kayaks.

There are sandy beaches at North Marina, South Marina and Spinnaker Cove with restrooms and picnic facilities where residents and their families can enjoy the crystal-clear waters of Lake Keowee.

Keowee Key’s Dog Park allows dogs to play off-leash, with water and agility equipment provided. Separation is provided for small and large dogs. This park is a great social meeting place for dogs and their owners.

Dog Park

The dog park at Keowee Key is a gathering place for pooches, and their owners. The park is equipped with water fountains, poop bags, agility equipment, a message board and seating for human companions.

Open daily from 8am to dusk, the park is divided into two sides, one for small dogs and the other for large, but more often dogs of all breeds and sizes play happily together. The area also offers social opportunities for pet owners, many of whom get together regularly with-or-without their canine companions.
